Our most recent purchase was the new 2020 BMW X4 M Competition, a special car that boasts some of the most premium features you’ll find on the market today. We bought the car from Ti, a car fanatic that was looking to sell his BMW in Boston.
Ti is a repeat customer based in Brookline, MA. This is the fifth vehicle he has sold to us. His love for cars can only be compared to his curiosity. He likes to test out vehicles to see how each model drives and performs before moving on to a new one.
His exceptional taste in cars has seen him drive some of the best models in the industry. He takes good care of them as well and only puts about 1,500 miles before looking for a buyer to sell to.
The 2020 BMW X4 M Competition that he recently sold to us had just 820 miles on it. And, as you can see from the photos, it’s in great condition. Ti gave us a call once he had settled on us as his choice to sell his luxury car to in Boston. Charlie offered him a quote in less than 5 minutes. This was followed by the delivery of a check to his condo in Brookline.
Ti’s BMW X4 M Competition is a crossover that gets its aesthetic inspiration from hatchbacks. Its impressive design cues give you a hint of what you get inside. Looking at it, we understand why he decided to test it out. It’s one of the finest models in its range. Below are some of its most notable features.
At the heart of this rather stunning crossover sits a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter engine that produces as much as 503 horsepower. It is the most powerful and most capable six-cylinder engine BMW has ever built. BMW refers to it as the S58. All its power is sent to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Having immense power under the hood translates to great performance and speed. The BMW X4 M Competition gets from 0-60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. This is 0.3 seconds faster than its main competitor – the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63.
For a large crossover that weighs just over 4500 pounds, it compares exceptionally well against other performance SUVs. The engine is happy to take you anywhere you want fast and safely. You also get remarkable agility despite the considerable weight.
The BMW X4 may give you the impression of a larger version of a racecar. This is considering its immense power and exceptional performance. While being a very capable SUV, it’s still built to serve the daily commuter that doesn’t mind a bit of fun.
It sits on steel coil springs that are designed to ensure the ride is firm and comfortable. Standard adaptive dampers work well with the car’s driving modes to provide riding that’s less wild when you want it to be.
The X4 M Competition owes a lot of its comfortability to its plush interior. The cabin is driver-centric and comprises top-quality material. Some of its most impressive luxury features include leather upholstery, interior ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, power-rear liftgate, power-adjustable front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Most passengers of average height find the rear seats comfortable enough. This is despite there being a sloped roofline. You can also fit about eight carry-on suitcases in the trunk and ten more when the rear seats are folded.
One of the many things you’ll notice once you step inside a BMW X4 M Competition is the 10.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. It comes with the latest iteration of the iDrive interface from BMW.
Standard features include Apple CarPlay and Navigation. You also get a 12.3-inch reconfigurable digital gauge display. If you’re one to enjoy some good music as you drive, you’ll also love the 16-speaker stereo from Harman/Kardon.
This being a premium German car, there are plenty of powertrain settings that you can adjust to your liking. BMW included three distinct gearshift programs that increase the severity of your driving experience.
You can tweak the engine’s aggression, the suspension’s firmness, and the weight of the steering wheel. For Ti, this BMW was a unique luxury car that he loved to drive in Boston before deciding to sell it.
If you have some extra cash to spare, the BMW X4 M Competition has plenty of packages that help improve its appearance and performance. Options include the Driving Assistance Plus package that adds advanced driver-assistance features like adaptive cruise control and the Executive Package that includes heated front and rear seats, wireless smartphone charging, a self-parking feature, onboard Wi-Fi hotspot, a heated steering wheel, and a heads-up display.
The car costs about $7,000 more than its lesser Competition variant. This is courtesy of the standard sport exhaust system, 21-inch wheels, larger anti-roll bars, and the Competition badge that is put below the X4 emblem. Ti’s BMW had an MSRP of $85,995 when he first bought it.
Like any other BMW, the X4 M Competition is sold with a limited warranty that covers 4 years or 50,000 miles and a powertrain warranty that covers the same. A complimentary maintenance cover is also included for 3 years or 36,000 miles. This means that you get free maintenance for the first 3 years or 36,000 miles.

Deciding to sell your BMW privately in Boston can be a daunting task. This is especially if you’re new to it. Sellers report struggling to find the right buyer, having to deal with DMV paperwork, and experiencing fraud during transactions.
Trading your car at a dealership can also be equally challenging. You may miss out on the full retail value. It’s quite common for dealers to low ball trade-in offers so that they can make more money from the transaction. This happens frequently even in an area like Boston.
